4. Hey Anna
This song is about the inner conflict between sense and anorexia (referred to as ‘Anna’ in the song). I battled this disorder in my late teens and it definitely came in waves of ‘OMG what am I doing?’ and ‘you’re worthless, fix yourself.’ I am proud to have been a healthy weight for 3 years now but I could never have done it without my incredible support network of family and professionals. To this day there are still times when “what the mirror shows is someone I don’t know,” but I am now strong enough to push through it. This song was written the day I first weighed in at ‘healthy’ after the worst of it.
Spotlight song this week is Talk About It – with some exciting news: lyric video dropping THIS FRIDAY at 3pm AEST!
This track is a moody dismissal of unwanted attention – when you get to the point where you’ve tried being nice and you just can’t be bothered anymore. In the words of the song, “… let’s hurry up and get this over,” because “…there is nothing more to say.” 😉
I am SUPER excited to annouce the release date of Tomorrow in Sight is set for November 30 2017!!!!! The launch show is scheduled for December 3 2017 at Stave’s Brewery in Glebe, 7-10pm, so there are 4 days for you to learn the lyrics and sing along!!! Spotlight song this week:
2. Red Flags
This song is about when you’re in that almost in a relationship stage and you start to question and over think whether or not it will work out. In my case I was already seeing signs that I knew would be a problem down the track, so I wrote this song to tell myself to take a serious think about whether or not it was worth my time and effort to continue forwards. It has become somewhat of a personal anthem now – every time I catch myself getting close to someone I go back and sing it to remind myself to calm down and be realistic about the situation. It is one of my favourite songs to play purely because of how strong and independent I feel afterwards!
